The ERRAC workshop dealing with long passenger rail transport was held 3 March, at the CER premises, with the aim of identifying and prioritising challenges that needs to be overcome in order to get more people to choose the train over other transport modes.
Present at the workshops were people from the business, academia and the commission.
Complementary interviews with a selection of important stakeholder, freight and passenger, will be made in April and May.
The result of the workshops and the interviews will be used to finalise the two roadmaps which are to be delivered to the commission in June.
The roadmaps are instruments where topics for research are suggested with the purpose of influencing future framework programmes.
The roadmaps will be updated on a yearly basis as part of the ongoing ERRAC work.
